Helping Students Stay Organized, Manage Workload,
and Build Independence
High School is Overwhelming When You Don’t Have a System
The jump from middle school to high school—or from one grade level to the next—can feel like too much. Suddenly, students are expected to juggle multiple classes, keep track of assignments, study for exams, and manage extracurriculars, all while preparing for the future.
- Forgetting homework or missing deadlines because they don’t write things down
- Struggling to start or complete long-term projects on time
- Procrastinating until the last minute, leading to stress and rushed work
- Feeling overwhelmed by balancing school, sports, activities, and home life
- Difficulty with studying, test prep, or knowing how to retain information
- Increased frustration, anxiety, or avoidance when faced with challenging tasks

Develop Study & Test-Prep Strategies

Jill worked with our eldest daughter for a number of years, helping remediate her reading and manage anxiety connected to learning. From the beginning, Jill was professional, reliable and efficient. She worked tirelessly both in person and online to create individualized sessions through the pandemic to help our daughter improve both her reading and her writing. She also helped her memorize her times tables, a real confidence booster at the right time. What began as reading, spelling, and phonics drills, eventually evolved into higher level lessons in comprehension and writing. The work that they did together helped our daughter evolve into the high achieving student that she is today, entering 9th Grade. It has taught her the value of hard work and resilience and the satisfying rewards that can come from this.
Jill continues to work on EF skills with her on an as needed basis. Our daughter has gained tremendous confidence in her abilities as a reader, as a writer, as a mathematician, and most importantly as a lifelong learner – and this confidence was inspired and nurtured by Jill. We are profoundly grateful and cannot say enough about Jill and how highly we recommend her.
My daughter was really struggling with time management and managing her stress levels. She’d get so worked up about her work load that she often couldn’t find a way to start her work and would then feel really bad about herself. This was an on-going struggle for several months, even though she’s incredibly academically gifted, she just couldn’t find a way to focus and put her best food forward. She started seeing Jill in her Junior year of high school and started with a few simple changes to her routine at first. She met with Jill regularly and soon I saw that she was not as upset about things and feeling a bit better. After a couple of months, she was more engaged and talking about some of the tools Jill suggested and putting them in place. She is now really dealing with her work load and stress levels in a healthy way and feels more positive than I’ve seen her in well over a year. I’m incredibly thankful to Jill who helped patiently guide and give the tools needed for my daughter to feel in control and better about the way she studies and balances school and life.
Jill is amazing. Over the course of the past year, my (dyslexic) 12 year old’s reading has improved DRASTICALLY – and with it, her self-esteem! She’s gone from refusing to read out loud, to willingly reading to me almost daily. When she stumbles on a word she doesn’t give up, but rather is able to quickly decode almost any word. More importantly, though, my daughter adores Jill; Jill took the time to conNect with my kid, which means the world to both my daughter and me. Jill also does an amazing job of keeping my husband and I up to date on our daughter’s progress. We could not be more grateful for Jill’s commitment to our family.
Why This Matters Now
