What is the best way to treat ADHD and Executive Function Challenges?
“When my child was assessed last year, I saw that I had similar behaviors and got assessed shortly after.. I found that I have ADHD as well. This revelation has been life changing, in the most positive way. I thought that I was just lazy. Now this makes sense. It has helped me figure out ways to work with my ADHD rather than just beat myself up all the time!” Jan R., client
ADHD is a complex condition that comprises genetic, environmental, and neurobiological factors. It affects no two people alike. Some may struggle with impulsivity and control, while others with emotional regulation, or attention issues, or some combination of symptoms. It can often co-occur with other learning disabilities. An assessment and diagnosis provides a pathway to understanding and treatment. While treatment plans may include coaching, educational therapy, behavior management, and psychopharmacology, they all should begin with education and increased self-awareness.
